A mini food forest started in our bioswale pollinator garden

October 2018. Jeanne and Michael from CityOrchard brought us our shrubs and trees to begin our pollinator garden project located in our parking lot bioswale.  With the help of Greg Smith and student Kenzel Collins, Jeanne and Michael installed Elderberry and Currant bushes, Staghorn sumac, Spicebushes, Persimmon trees and a Serviceberry. Next Monday our volunteers and students will install almost two hundred perennials to finish the garden design. The pollinator garden was made possible through a grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Foundation.
