Our beginnings...
CCA Academy has existed for over 40 years, serving students in North Lawndale and its surrounding neighborhoods with a second chance opportunity for earning a high school diploma.
In the last 10 years CCA has evolved to encompass the themes of urban agriculture, health and restorative justice. We have expanded our campus to include two city lots as gardens with outdoor classroom space. Last Fall we created a native prairie bioswale and pollinator garden as part of our new parking lot construction. This winter we started planning for the addition of a food forest to serve our school and community. With our students, staff, community input and the help of area institutions, including a partnership with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), our 5 - 7 year adventure begins.
