Oaks of North Lawndale stone installation day

Today we installed limestone boulders throughout our food forest.  The stones are part of a larger community art project known as  The Oaks of North Lawndale. Each stone sits next to a tree as a place to relax, as a heat sink for the tree and as a representation of geologic time. 

PermaPark is a special place not only because it focuses on the earth and art and the education of our youth but also because it represents the amazing things can be accomplished when we work together to build and celebrate community.
